Updated: Knife-Wielding Newark Brothers Arrested for Assaulting Parents

Two Newark brothers have been arrested for assaulting their parents, and chasing their father throughout their apartment’s parking lot with knives.
According to police, Nicholas Scanio, 21, and his 15-year-old brother, Allen Stevens, “jumped” their father on Saturday in the parking lot of the Elms Apartments in Newark. After the initial assault, leaving the father bleeding heavily from injuries to his mouth and nose, they ran back to their apartment, armed themselves with knives, and returned.
The father was able to outrun his sons and elude their attempted knife attack.
After failing to run down their father, the brothers returned to the apartment and shoved their mother to the floor before they fled the area.
Police spoke with the mother, who was in phone contact with her two sons and connected them with the police. The officer was able to convince the 15-year-old son, Allen Stevens, to surrender after speaking to him on the phone. His brother, Nicholas Scanio, turned himself in to police later in the evening.
Nicholas Scanio was arraigned and committed to the Howard Young Prison after failing to post $10,000 secured bail. His younger brother, Allan, was committed to the Camelot Home after failing to post $19,000 secured bail.

first.. there were no knives.. the news failed to report the fact that the step father is an addict and beats the mother.. and was hitting the 15 year old.and nick tried to help get him away before they were both hit in the face with bricks.. they ran from him.. the mother was not around! they are both great kids.. hard working.. the 15 year old is a honor roll student..and nick works hard and has never been in trouble. they have been in this nasty enviornment their whole life. its about time they defended themselves! get the fknn story right!
