Christina Superintendent Search Down to Four

The Christina School District Board of Education has chosen its four finalists to fill the Superintendent of Schools position vacated by current Secretary of Education Dr. Lillian Lowery.

Working closely with the consulting firm Huge and Associates. the board conducted preliminary screenings of the top candidates on March 18 and 19, and have now narrowed the list to four finalists:

Emmanuel Caulk, Esq., Assistant Superintendent for Instructional Services, East Baton Rouge, Louisiana

Marcia V. Lyles, Ed.D., Deputy Chancellor for Teaching and Learning, New York City Department of Education, New York

Donna Micheaux, Ph.D., Chief Administrative Officer, Dallas Independent School District, Dallas, Texas

Freeman Williams, Ed.D., Interim Superintendent, Christina School District, Wilmington/Newark, Delaware

Interviews for the four finalists will take place on March 25, 26/27, 30, and 31.

According to the district, time has been set aside for staff, parents, PTA representatives, association and union leaders, business leaders, legislators, civic and community leaders, members of the public and the board to meet and interact with the finalists.

The day-long interviews will begin each day at 8:00 a.m. and conclude with an exit interview with Board members at 7:15 p.m. The only exception is on March 26, when the interviews will begin at 3:30 p.m. and will continue the next morning on March 27 at 8:00 a.m.

Specific times have been set aside at locations in both Newark and Wilmington for members of the public to participate. Candidates will also tour the district and visit a number of schools.

The schedule for the candidates is:

Wednesday, March 25 - Marcia V. Lyles

Bancroft Elementary School Auditorium: 12 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Gauger-Cobbs Middle School Auditorium: 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Thursday, March 26 and Friday, March 27 - Freeman Williams

Gauger-Cobbs Middle School Auditorium (3/26): 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.
Bancroft Elementary School Auditorium (3/27): 12 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.

Monday, March 30 - Donna Micheaux

Bancroft Elementary School Auditorium: 12 p.m. - 12:45 p.m.
Gauger-Cobbs Middle School Auditorium: 5:15 p.m. - 6:15 p.m.

Tuesday, March 31 - Emmanuel Caulk
