The Wilmington Industrial Golf League (WIGL), a 9-hole co-ed golf league composed of nearly 30 Delaware area teams, has a few openings remaining for new teams. The league plays several of the top courses in the area, including Back Creek, Frog Hollow, Chesapeake Bay, Rising Sun, Deerfield, Brandywine Country Club and White Clay Creek.
In order to participate, all team members must be affiliated to a team sponsor and pay an entry fee of $120 per team that covers the entire season, including handicapping, scheduling and prize money. Greens fees are $25 - $30 per player with cart included.
WIGL is a co-ed handicapped league with all matches contested by 6 players from each team. New players establish a league handicap at the conclusion of their 1st match. You may have an unlimited number of players on your team roster. The league is open to players of all ability levels
According to Carl Zitofsky, each match will begin with a 5:15 p.m. shotgun start, and scoring is both match play and stroke play.
The WIGL season is scheduled to begin in May. Teams are scheduled for one match per week from Monday through Thursday. The regular season is comprised of 10 matches with the League Playoffs beginning in August.
The league also has a year end golf outing that is open to all participants.
