1841 With white tail deer virtually extinct, the General Assembly passed a law prohibiting the killing of such in the state.

1862 Episcopal Bishop John Johns, son of Delaware Chancellor Kensey Johns and grandson of Governor Nicholas Van Dyke (1783-86), administered the oath of office to Jefferson Davis, President of the Confederate States of America.

1927 The Chesapeake and Delaware Canal, 90 feet wide and 12 feet deep, opened as a tidewater canal without locks and was run by the Federal Government.

2007 A void was felt in Delaware when it was announced that the Three Little Bakers Dinner Theater, once headed by Hugo, Nick, and Al Immediato, was closing in Pike Creek Valley near Newark.
