1871 Fidelia Johns Stockton, wife of Governor Thomas Stockton (1845-46), died at New Castle in her 87th year.
1888 The General Assembly passed a resolution to erect an equestrian statue of Caesar Rodney in Dover.
1890 The Delaware Hospital opened in Wilmington on 14th and Washington Streets.
1978 President Jimmy Carter came to Padua Academy in Wilmington to boost Senator Joseph Biden’s candidacy for reelection.
